LOCATION

HAUGH OF URR

Redcastle dates back to 1486. The farmhouse is situated in the Urr Valley, ten minutes walk from the River Urr and has beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Walk one and a half miles along a single track road past Urr Church to the village inn 'The Laurie Arms', which in winter has a roaring fire and in warmer weather the garden with tables and chairs. Food is served at the bar, there is also a restaurant,  pool and darts available in the bar area.

CASTLE DOUGLAS

Our holiday cottages in Scotland are six miles from the thriving market town of Castle Douglas where there is a Tourist Information Centre, theatre, town loch and a variety of individual shops.

DALBEATTIE

Three miles in the opposite direction you come to Dalbeattie with its lovely park, trampolines and small pond with pedaloes. Dalbeattie is on the edge of the forest with numerous walks and cycle tracks. and mountain biking..www.7stanes.gov

DUMFRIES

Dumfries is the nearest large town situated on the River Nith, about 16 miles away from our holiday cottages in scotland.

CARLISLE, STRANRAER, GLASGOW AND EDINBURGH

We are two miles south of the A75 which links to Carlisle…M6…and the ferry terminal at Stranraer. Glasgow and Edinburgh are 98 miles away.

From Dumfries travel along the A75.

Take the Left turn B794 signposted 'Haugh of Urr'.

 

After 1 mile, pass through the village

 

Continue until the FIRST left turn

(about 1/4 mile after you have exited the village).

 

This is a single track road (sign Redcastle House)

 

drive straight up passing the farm entrance on the right

 

The road turns sharply to the left but continue straight on.

 

Pass the driveway entrance to the house on the right (green gate)

THE STEADING

ARRIVAL

First property on the right (having past the green gate)

STEADING 1 AND 2

Past the Steading into the farmyard, parking for steading 1 is on the right and steading 2 is 10 metres further on through the wooden gate (entrance up a flight of stairs)

THE COTTAGE

Continue through farmyard to Redcastle House and the entrance to the cottage is at the back door of the house

 

Arrival after 4 pm:- Please go straight into your property and I shall pop over and see you later. Depart before 10 am would be greatly appreciated.
